How Does it Compare? With Rachel Krider, Part One

In this continuing blog series, Prosperity of Life co-founder Shane Krider interviews his wife, Rachel Krider, about how her experiences with this company compares to experiences she’s had in the past.

Shane Krider

I remember when I was thinking about getting started as an entrepreneur and I had these ideas that were keeping me from pulling the trigger and taking the leap. One of them was this statistic that I heard that 80% of small businesses fail within the first two years.

Rachel Krider

I heard the same one.

Shane Krider

That almost kept me out of the game. What do you think about those types of statistics? I mean, if I’m thinking about getting a business, do I listen to those statistics and do I take them seriously?

Rachel Krider

If you are someone who is simply willing to take action, then you won’t be in that 80% of businesses failing. If you’re someone who’s able to follow through and take action, then you can put yourself in the 20% of businesses that succeed.

Shane Krider

Wow, so what you’re saying is that it’s a bit of a personal choice. What do you think is different between this type of business? The marketing is figured out, there’s a system that you follow, there’s training already in place, the product has already been proven in the marketplace, and the compensation plan has been proven in the real world to produce the results. But the missing ingredient is what?

Rachel Krider

The you factor. What are you going to do with that system.

Shane Krider

So you’re applying yourself to this system, do the statistics play less of a role in a business like this than if I was going to try to start my own dress shop?

Rachel Krider

Absolutely because the formula is already figured out. The system is already developed — from the scripts to the training, everything is there. You’ve basically got to plug in and start playing and playing at a level that’s going to get a result. We’ve put forth the required level of activity in terms of how many people you should be speaking to each day, each week, or each month to actually have a prediction of how many sales will pop out the other side.

Lee Anne said as long as she’s consistent on the front end with her activity, then the business is consistent on the back end with the number of sales. I found that to be true as well. I actually had the benefit to see what happened with the statistics on the back end and literally every single person who is consistent within the business for 12 months, they absolutely produce the result out the other side.

What Does It Take? With Rachel Krider

In this continuing blog series, Prosperity of Life co-founder Shane Krider interviews his wife, Rachel Krider, about her thoughts on what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur in home business.

Shane Krider

Just like anybody else, you worked your way up and ultimately you ended up buying into the new company as we launched it. So you know what it’s like to create success starting from nothing, and you became a seven figure annual income earner. I just wanted to ask you a few questions.

Rachel Krider

I had the same fears and doubts that anyone would. I had the fear of failure. I failed in a previous business so I was a little bit vulnerable emotionally when I was considering getting started here. I was spent financially — I was about $50,000 worth of credit card debt, I lost my house, I lost my car, all through decisions I made in an attempt to build my previous business. The fear crept in when I was getting started again, but I didn’t allow that fear to stop me from moving forward.

Other people allow the fear of failure or even the fear of success stop them from moving forward. I think that if someone had that crystal ball and they knew they were going to succeed at a really high level, they would do it all day long. As a business owner, you’ve got to take calculated risks to succeed, but some people will just allow their fear to stop them.

Shane Krider

You do a lot of training here with Prosperity of Life, you work with a lot of people, assist them with their marketing, and things like that. What have you seen in Lee Anne that gives her maybe an advantage or an edge to becoming a successful entrepreneur at this level?

Rachel Krider

She’s willing to fail and she’s willing to put herself out there.

Shane Krider

That seems counter-intuitive.

Rachel Krider

You know what, she’s had more failures that perhaps the next guy because she’s put herself out there. She tries different things with marketing, she’s had more conversations, and she’s had more no’s than the next guy. But it’s this willingness to fall flat on her face but get back up and have another go. I mean, I talk about how I failed my way to success and I say Lee Anne’s done the same thing and created a lot of success in the process.

Shane Krider

So what you’re talking about is the opposite of the paralysis of analysis.

Rachel Krider

Totally. I mean not every move you’re going to make will be a successful one, but so long as you continue making moves, eventually you’re going to come out the other side with some wins. I’ve seen Lee Anne be prepared to do it despite all those fears.

Shane Krider

So you’ve known Lee Anne for a long time. Do you remember the first time she came onto your radar as somebody that was successful here?

Rachel Krider

I remember she had a big month. She was working the business part time and I met her on the Gold Coast and that she was running her franchise and she had two little kids back then. Somehow she’s running this franchise and she was making consistent sales with Prosperity of Life.

I thought this girl was impressive to have the family, the business, and then running Prosperity of Life part-time. There was this energy and excitement that was surrounding her — it was cool. That was the first time she came on my radar, but I remember the first time I met her we were actually having lunch on the Gold Coast. She had only just gotten started, and hadn’t made any money in the business at that point, but she was full of excitement and there was this determination in her face.

Shane Krider

So being a successful female yourself, you’ve watched folks like Lee Anne create success. What are the common denominators of success?

Rachel Krider

You have to make a decision. Understand that there will be obstacles that you’ve got to overcome, but keep your sights on the end goal and keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Shane Krider

So that determination that you saw in Lee Anne was the decision. That’s impressive.
